| A Teen ReadWhy I liked it...
This book was much, much better than book two in this saga. It was almost as if a different person stepped in and help write this book. The stories flowed together better. Everything made sense. More complex situations call for more complex solutions that were well carried out for a teen read. I loved the developed realtionship between Bella, Edward and Jacob. Alice is a wonderful, light hearted character that was necessary to make this novel work. The emotional rollar coaster in this book is worth the read. Lots of action, lots of drama. I loved how this book finally tied the stories together from the first two. I look back and think that they should have all been published as one giant novel with a lot of editing from the second saga.
With the love triangle that has developed, I am eagarly anticipating the bitter outcome in the next volume.
Would I read this again? Yes probably.
Why I didn't like it...
Sadly, this book I don't think could totally stand on it's own. If I knew nothing of the other two and picked this one up first to read I would definately be a bit lost in the story and lose some of those important emotional ties between characters. These books are their own world. Like Tolken's Lord of the Rings (a fantasy world so believable to the reader because of well developed characters and backgrounds), this is on the edge of being something big, but it doesn't quite make it. Eclipse is the closest it's come and I look forward to seeing this one tranlated to the silver screen. Read more...

| Not As Good As The First ThreeI was very disappointed in how Breaking Dawn ended. Myers does a wonderful job of building suspense and a feeling of impendng doom with the coming of the Volturi but then it's like she just gives up in the end. Certain things didn't make sense. Why would the Volturi drag the Wives to the battle unless they were dead set on killing the Cullens. From the first mention of them in Twilight, we are told that the Volturi are death incarnate. All who stand against them are washed away in a flood of fire and blood and yet a new born vampire is able to undermine their whole operation. Hmm. . . I can understand if Myers didn't want to kill off any of her characters but why build up to such an anticlimax?
I also had a problem with Jacob suddenly not being a werewlf anymore but a shapeshifter. That was kind of a stretch considering since New Moon we have been steeped in the whole 'werewolf/vampire mortal enemy' thing.
The book does get one star for the slasher scene but then I have always been a horror fan and two more stars for the 'Jacob' section. I thought that was neat and well written. Read more...

| WOW, Getting Teens to Read!!!The Twilight Saga: Slipcased I ordered it for my daughter for Christmas, she heard about the books from some friends and wanted to read the books before seeing the movie. This in itself was unusual, for my daughter is not what you would call a "reader for fun"! If it must be done for school, she is all over it, but she spend her fun time in front of video games and DVD's. I myself read for fun so I was trilled that she was even interested.
After recieving the books on time, which with the demand, I was impressed by. My daughter was delighted by the gift and she started the first book the very next day. My slow reader, was finished in less than five days with 500 pages. Granted this was over the school holiday, but the point is she was engaged enough to read a book not required for school. She was excited enough to finish and recommend the book to me!
She also started on the second book and is just as engrossed in the story. THIS WAS A TERRIFIC VALUE FOR ME!!! Anything that impoves my daughters since of self,(this gave her a since of acomplishment and enjoyment as well) is of great value to any Mom! Way to go Miss. Meyer with getting teens off the couch and into not one, but four a books!!! Read more...
